Icons

Why can't I upload icons to this thing?

ETA: Because, "The userpic factory is currently not working. This means that if you upload an icon that doesn't meet our technical guidelines (up to 100x100 pixels, 40kb or smaller) you will receive an error message, rather than being asked to resize your icon."

So how do I make an icon which meets their technical guidelines?

I have no idea - I've only explored Dreamwidth by 'phone so far. However, the 'Import Journal' tool (somewhere under FAQ, or just search using 'Import') allows you to import icons from your existing LiveJournal.

I found DW couldn't extract userpics when given their LJ URLS, so I downloaded my userpic to my computer, and then uploaded it as a file rather than a URL.

What sort of image-editing software do you have?

Well, how had you been making icons before? What do you have on your computer?

Ah, I see.

I'm fairly certain you can turn that off? Also, you can reply to comments via email on LJ.

One possibility is to change your LJ password, import, then change it again.
