Nick takes pictures of me and puts them on his web-site. I right-click on the picture I want and select "save as" and save the file on my computer. Then I go into "upload icons" on LJ, and point it at the file I saved. Then LJ shows me the picture and asks which part I want to be the icon. So I draw a box around my head and LJ makes it into an icon.

Dreamwidth purports to do the same thing, but it's not working right now.

I've got Vista and MS Office on my computer, but I refer you to my earlier answer.

BTW, I quite like the fact that I can reply to your comment right here in Gmail. I less like the fact that Dreamwidth insists on putting a copy in my Dreamwidth mail-box, so I have to read the comments twice.
